Alma is a one-Michelin star fine dining restaurant in the Chiado district of Lisbon. The restaurant was founded by Henrique Sa Pessoa, a high-profile chef and media personality, best known for his cooking programs in Portugal.
Alma is housed in an old 18th-century warehouse that once stored books from one of the oldest bookshops in the world. Its interior features modern furniture, high archways and an open plan kitchen in which patrons can watch the chefs prepare their meals.
The restaurant was awarded its first Michelin star in 2016 and has continued to draw diners from around the world ever since.
Sa Pessoa’s food creations at Alma are inspired by his travels across the globe, his obsession with Asia, his passion for his home city of Lisbon and for traditional Portuguese cuisine.
At this restaurant, Sa Pessoa aims to take his patrons on a food journey with his innovative dishes. His vision for Alma is to break boundaries and showcase the wonderful cuisine his country has to offer. The dishes at Alma feature Sa Pessoa's Signature style of Portuguese cuisine with a distinctly Asian twist.
The menu options include Costa a Costa, a five-course menu inspired by the sea; Alma, a tasting menu comprised of the chef's favourite dishes; Origins, a three-course menu inspired by traditional Portuguese cuisine; Path, a menu dedicated to the chef's travels across the globe and an a la carte menu.
Alma is open Tuesday - Sunday for lunch and for dinner.
