QANTAS BUSINESS CLASS LOUNGE AT PERTH AIRPORT TO OPEN END OF MARCH
Qantas have announced that they will be opening their new International Transit Business Class lounge on March 24 at Perth Airport for travellers on their Boeing 787 Perth-London flights. The lounge will be eligible for those in Qantas , Qantas Platinum One, Platinum and Gold Card holders and Qantas Club Members. The lounge will be located in Perth’s new Terminal 3 and will offer shower suites, an outdoor terrace and Neil Perry designed menu.
ETIHAD CHANGES BAGGAGE WEIGHT POLICY
Etihad have announced that effective immediately they have changed their baggage policy to be based on weight rather than the number of pieces carried (although Canada & the US' system will stay as is).Those in Economy Deal will have an allowance of 23kg of baggage, Economy Saver & Classic will have 30kg, Economy Flex will have 35 kg, Business with 50kg and First Class 50kg.
QANTAS’ DAILY MELBOURNE-BALI FLIGHTS
Qantas have announced that as of 23 June 2018, they will begin direct flights between Melbourne- Bali (Denpasar). QF45 will depart from Melbourne at 4:50pm for a 9:10pm arrival into Denpasar. In the other direction, QF46 will leave Denpasar at 10:10pm to arrive into Melbourne a day later at 5:55am.
PLAZA PREMIUM OPENS REFURBISHED LOUNGE AT ABU DHABI AIRPORT
The doors to the revamped Plaza Premium lounge have been reopened at Abu Dhabi Airport. The 24-hour lounge now has space for around 300 guests and those travelling in First or Business in any airline are eligible for access. Located in Abu Dhabi’s Terminal 1, the lounge features an all-day dining area, family space, massage rooms, work stations and more.
MALAYSIA AIRLINES TO REOPEN THEIR KUALA LUMPUR LOUNGE IN MARCH
Malaysia Airlines have announced that they will be re-opening their Kuala Lumpur Golden lounge in March. The lounge, dedicated to First and Business class clients is located in KL’s satellite terminal. A huge change for the new lounges is in its food offering. There will be a ‘demonstration kitchen’ in which chefs will create gourmet Malaysian and international dishes for patrons, a fine dining experience in the First class lounge and a bistro service in Business class lounge.
QANTAS BRISBANE TO LOS ANGELES FLIGHTS TO BEGIN IN SEPTEMBER
Qantas have announced that their daily service between Brisbane and Los Angeles will begin in September. The route will operate on their Boeing 787-9 aircraft with tickets already on sale. The flights will then continue onto New York as QF11/QF 12 flights passengers from Qantas’ Melbourne-LA and Sydney-LA flights.
THE TALLEST HOTEL IN THE WORLD HAS OPENED ITS DOORS IN DUBAI
The four-star Gevora Hotel has opened its doors in Dubai and now boasts the title of the tallest hotel in the whole world (a record previously held by the JW Marriott Marquis Hotel, Dubai). Measuring in at 356 metres, the 75 storey, art-deco style property has 528 rooms and suites. The hotel offers a sauna, pool a range of different restaurants and a business centre to cater for both leisure and business travellers.
ETIHAD MERCEDES-BENZ PARTNERSHIP FOR NEW CHAUFFEUR SERVICES
Etihad Airways have announced their partnership with Mercedes-Benz for chauffeur transfers across the United Arab Emirates for eligible travellers. The partnership will be a three year pact between the two companies, offering the chauffeur service to customers in Etihad’s Business, First Class and the Residences. The service is for those arrive into or arriving from Abu Dhabi Airport. Gate to air-side and vice versa.
BRITISH AIRWAYS TO OFFER FREE WIFI FOR A LIMITED TIME ON SELECTED FLIGHTS
British Airways have announced that for a limited time they will be offering free Wi-Fi on their three Boeing 747’s kitted out with internet connection. In conjunction with Visa, they are offering 60 free minutes of connectivity on basic browser service.
QATAR AIRWAYS FREE WIFI TRIALS
Qatar have announced that they will be conducting inflight Wi-Fi trials for a limited time. Known as ‘Super Wi-Fi’, Qatar are testing the service on their Boeing 777-300ER QSuite jets. The airline is working with Qatari telecommunications provider Ooordeoo to provide internet to its flyers.
EMIRATES DAILY SERVICE FROM DUBAI TO LONDON STANSTED AIRPORT
Emirates have announced that they will be launching a new daily service from Dubai to London Stansted (STN) airport as of 8 June 2018. The new route is for those needing to fly into a location close to North London’s ‘tech and pharma hubs of Cambridge and Peterborough’. The new route will operate on Emirates’ Boeing 777-300ER aircraft with refreshed cabins.>
QANTAS RELOCATES TO TERMINAL 8 AT JFK AIRPORT, PASSENGERS IN BUSINESS TO BE ABLE TO ACCESS AMERICAN AIRLINES LOUNGES
As of April 3, Qantas arrivals and departures will relocate to Terminal 8 at JFK Airport in New York. The move will mean that Business passengers on Qantas Airways flights to New York will be able to gain access to the newly upgraded American Airlines lounge in Terminal 8 (which offers the usual business amenities such as Wi-Fi, a business centre as well as a range of drink and dining options).
SYDNEY AIRPORT TO BEGIN USING BIOMETRICS AS OF MAY
Sydney airport will begin to introduce biometrics as of May this year. The aim of the new system is to help passengers travel with ease through the airport. Using the new technology, passengers will only need to get out their passport once during the check-in process whilst biometric technology will usher them through the rest of the process without the need to take out their passport again. The service will first be trialled on Qantas' passengers who opt in to the technology trial.
