After the recent bushfire disaster to hit Victoria’s Gippsland region, Platinum’s Groups & Events Manager, David Phillips, gathered a collection for the Animal Rescue Collective (ARC) to support and care for affected wildlife.

Thanks to the generous support of family, friends and Platinum staff, David’s haul of baby food pouches, aloe vera gel and other essential, life-sustaining goods were dropped at an ARC registered hub near his home. He’s since been in contact with ARC to let us know that these all-important goodies have been transported and used where they were most needed in the Gippsland area.

Anyone interested in supporting ARC can join their Facebook group here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/ARCgippsland/

Last month, Platinum’s Marketing Manager, Laura Maitland, made it to the top of Tanzania’s Mount Kilimanjaro with a group of climbers who set out to raise money for Cystic Fibrosis, W.A.

Her experience is perhaps best captured in a post she shared on social media, which she’s kindly given us permission to publish here:

“These photos don’t show the swollen knees, the mind-altering cold, or the heated queues for photos at the summit. They don’t show us squatting over buckets in our tents to wash, or the moment my partner pulled me back into line when my frustration over the pouring rain turned nigh tantrumic. They don’t show the shame I felt when I couldn’t keep up with the rest of the group, or the hours of extra work I put in getting back into shape after my stint in hospital in November. They also don’t show the extraordinary strength and sacrifice of our porters, guides, and support team, and the thousand small kindnesses they showed us – and each other – along the way. They don’t show the countless hours we put into fundraising for Cystic Fibrosis WA in the name of our climb, or the space the six of us made for each other to reach the top on our own terms. It’s been a sad and strange time to be away from Australia these past few weeks, but if these photos show us (and remind me of) anything, it’s that looking out over a thriving, breathtaking, natural world will take everything we’ve got, and then some. I, for one, am READY for it.”

Anyone who’d like to make a donation to the groups’ fundraiser for Cystic Fibrosis can do so online here.

It's a no-brainer
